Correspondence

A central construct in the theory of work adjustment (Dawis, 1996), corresondence is the degree of fit beteen a person's traits and the requirements of a work environment. Thus, correspondence is analogous to Holland's (1997) concept of congruence. However, in the theory of work adjustment, correspondence is conceptualized as having facets, namely, need-based correspondence (predictive of [job] satisfaction) and ability-based correspondence (predictive of worker satisfactoriness, i.e., job performance).
