Congruence

The degree to which an individual's characteristics fit those of his or her environment. In work situations, higher degrees of congruence are assumed to predict positive work outcomes. "Congruence" is a key concept in Holland's theory. The concept appears under different names in other theories (see Spokane, 1991, pp. 12-13).
