Occupational Burnout

The loss of interest in an occupation and its activities, combined with psychological and at least some physiological symptoms arising from chronic job-related stress, associated with one's subjection to workplace stress on an ongoing basis. Several theories of burnout have been defined, some whose definitions vary substantially from the one proffered. Probably the best known measure is the Maslach Burnout Inventory, developed to measure burnout among mental health workers and other helping professionals.
